The Village is seeking candidates for Firefighter/Paramedic. The Firefighter/Paramedic is responsible for fire suppression, fire inspection, vehicle and fire station maintenance, hazardous material response, rescue operations and emergency medical services. The Village is recruiting for a 56 hour per week Firefighter/Paramedic position. The 56 hour per week position would work 24 hour shifts.

Those currently enrolled in Paramedic school are encouraged to apply. The Village is also accepting applications for lateral transfers, previous service will be evaluated to determine commensurate pay and vacation time. Human Resources in consultation with the Fire Chief shall have final determination for placement on Local 1777 CBA wage and vacation schedule.

Pursuant to Collective Bargaining Agreement in effect. Resides within the corporate limits or within twenty (20) miles of the corporate limits of the Village of Greendale, within one month after completion of probationary period.
This position requires a 18-month probationary period.
Applicant will be required to submit to a medical examination consistent with the requirements of the position, after an offer of employment and prior to appointment. This medical exam is designed to reveal any medical condition that might put the firefighter at increased risk to self or others as a result of certain exposures or activities and to exhibit freedom from any physical, emotional or mental condition which adversely affects the performance of duties as a firefighter in the essential functions of employment, with reasonable accommodation.
All candidates will be fingerprinted and a record check made of local, state or federal authorities. A conviction is not an automatic bar to employment.
Career Development - Wisconsin Fire Inspector 1 Certification (NFPA-1031) (New employees must obtain as soon as possible at the Chief's discretion) - Wisconsin Firefighter II Certification (NFPA-1001) (New employees must obtain as soon as possible at the Chief's discretion) - Wisconsin Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Certification (NFPA-1002), (New employees must obtain on their own as a condition of employment) - Wisconsin Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator-Aerial Certification (NFPA-1002), (New employees must obtain as soon as possible at the Chief's discretion) - Attends seminars/classes recommended by the Fire Chief. - Maintain adequate firefighter proficiency in all assigned areas per department training standards, including all certifications/licenses throughout entire career.

Health Insurance : The Village's plan offered is subject to change each calendar year. Employee is eligible for coverage on the first day of the month following their date of employment. Employee contributes 12% toward monthly premium. The Village offers a $3,000 annual opt-out payment if the employee does not enroll in the insurance due to having other coverage.
Dental Insurance : The Village offers 4 different dental plan options. Specific plan offered is subject to change each calendar year. Employee is eligible for coverage on the first day of the month following their date of employment.
Vision Insurance: Employee is automatically enrolled in a vision plan that is employer paid if they are enrolled in the health insurance. Employee is eligible for coverage on the first day of the month following their date of employment.
FSA : Voluntary enrollment in flexible spending for costs for health and dependent care.
Pension : Wisconsin Retirement Fund. Employee pays employee share of WRS contribution rate each pay period.
Deferred Compensation : Optional enrollment in a deferred compensation plan for additional retirement savings.
Life Insurance : Basic Life insurance equal to annual salary. Paid for by the Village through the Wisconsin Retirement System. Effective on the first of the month after 30 days of service.
Holidays : 12 paid holidays per year

Sick: 18 hours of sick leave earned per month, may be accumulated up to a maximum of 2,500 hours.
