Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Driftsmoke ("Driftsmoke," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with our website and services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. The Service is intended for users in the United States.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account and identity information. When you create an account, we collect your email address, which we use to sign you in through a one-time link or code (we do not use passwords). You may also provide your name. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email address and basic profile information.
- Job-activity information. The jobs and departments you save or watch, the searches and alerts you set up, your notification preferences, and actions such as clicking "Apply" or sharing a listing. We use this to deliver the alerts and features you request and to improve the Service.
- Location information. If you use the "nearby jobs" or "nearby departments" features and grant permission, we collect your device's precise (GPS) location, or a ZIP code you enter, together with your IP address, in order to show relevant results near you. Precise location is optional, is only collected with your permission, and is never used for advertising. You can turn off location access at any time in your device settings.
- Device and push-notification information. If you enable push notifications, we collect a push notification token and your device platform so we can deliver the alerts you request. We also collect technical and usage information such as your device and browser type, IP address, pages viewed, and links clicked, including through cookies and comparable technologies.
- Subscription information. If you purchase a subscription, we and our billing provider receive your subscription status, plan, and store transaction identifiers. Payment card details are handled by the app store and are not collected by us.
- Information from other sources. Information we obtain from partners and publicly available sources, which we may combine with information we already hold.
How we use information
We may use the information we collect for purposes including to:
- operate, maintain, personalize, and improve the Service;
- create and manage accounts and deliver features you request, such as job alerts;
- send push notifications and job alerts you have asked to receive;
- show nearby jobs and departments using your location, where you have enabled it;
- communicate with you, including about your account, updates, and offerings;
- analyze usage and trends and develop new products, features, and services;
- protect the security and integrity of the Service and our users;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms; and
- any other purpose described to you at the point of collection or otherwise permitted by law.
How we share information
We work with a limited set of service providers that process information on our behalf so we can operate the Service:
- Mailgun — to deliver sign-in and notification emails;
- Google Sign-In — to authenticate you if you choose to sign in with Google;
- RevenueCat — to manage and validate subscriptions;
- Google Analytics 4 — to measure and understand how the Service is used;
- Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — to deliver push notifications.
We may also share information:
- in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or other business transaction;
- to comply with law, legal process, or lawful requests, or to protect rights, property, or safety; and
- in other circumstances with your consent or as otherwise permitted by law.
We do not sell your personal or sensitive information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may share aggregated or de-identified information, which is not subject to this Policy.
Cookies and analytics
We and our partners may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies — including Google Analytics 4 — to operate the Service, remember your preferences, understand how the Service is used, and support analytics and measurement. You can usually adjust your browser settings to manage cookies, though some features may not work as intended without them.
Your choices
You can update certain account information or request changes by contacting us. You may opt out of non-essential emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in those messages; we may still send you service-related communications. You can turn off push notifications at any time in your device or notification settings, and you can disable location access in your device settings.
Data retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as we consider it useful for the purposes described in this Policy, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements, after which we may retain, delete, or de-identify it.
You can permanently delete your account and its associated personal data at any time — in the app or on the website — from Settings → Account → Delete account, or by contacting us. When you delete your account, we remove your account and the personal data associated with it, including your sign-in tokens, saved jobs and watches, alerts, notification preferences, and device tokens. Job listings you submitted may be retained but are de-identified so they are no longer linked to you.
Security
We take reasonable measures intended to protect information, and we transmit personal information using encryption (HTTPS). However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), gives you the following rights regarding your personal information:
- the right to know and access the personal information we have collected about you;
- the right to delete your personal information;
- the right to correct inaccurate personal information;

- the right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.
The categories of personal information we collect, and the business and commercial purposes for collecting them, are described in the "Information we collect" and "How we use information" sections above. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We use Google Analytics 4 for measurement and product improvement only, not for advertising.

We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes, so we have no information to provide in response to requests under California's "Shine the Light" law (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.83).

The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us atsupport@driftsmoke.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
