Hampton County Fire/ Rescue

Hampton County Fire/Rescue operates out of headquarters at 703 2nd Street West in the town of Hampton, providing fire suppression and investigation, fire code enforcement, rescue operations, hazardous materials incident control, natural disaster mitigation, and first-responder emergency medical services to the county. The department also runs life-safety education programs for the community.

HCFR relies heavily on volunteer members alongside its paid staff, and it removes common financial barriers to joining by covering the cost of the required SLED criminal background check and the annual NFPA-standard medical physical for volunteer applicants. Rather than sending recruits to an outside fire academy, the department provides all required firefighter training locally within Hampton County.

The department is led by Fire Chief Chris Parker, with Battalion Chief Tyrone Corbin and Fire Marshal Denise Nix rounding out its leadership team, and is currently recruiting both volunteers and full-time paid firefighters.
