Salary
Starting salary: Will be based on the current bargaining agreement between the City of Ocean Shores and IAFF 2109. The current salary range is $7,640.43-$9,248.95 per month (depending on qualifications).
Job description
The spring and summer months are the peak season with 15,000 to 30,000 visitors per day. The average age of residents is 65 years old.
Ocean Shores is a peninsula that is 6.6 miles long and 3 miles wide. The west part of the peninsula borders the Pacific Ocean and the east “bay side” borders Grays Harbor. Ocean Shores has 23 miles of fresh waterways, lakes and canals.
The Ocean Shores Fire Department is a combination fire department with 28 career personnel including a Chief Officer, Assistant Chief , an Administrative Assistant, a Fire Inspector and 24 Firefighters with either paramedic or EMT certifications. Additional personnel consist of volunteer members. The department is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The career staff works a 4 Platoon schedule 48 hours on 144 off as per their IAFF local 2109 union contract. The department has 4 shifts, each with a Captain and Lieutenant. OSFD will also be opening a new fire station that will be staffed 24/7/365 located at the south end of our City at 345 Marine View Drive.
As with most fire departments, 85% of the 911 responses are for emergency medicine (EMS). The nearest ER is at Harbor Regional Health, located 25 miles away in Aberdeen.
