Job Description

The City of Dickinson is seeking skilled Firefighter Paramedics to join our team. This role combines advanced emergency medical care as a paramedic with essential firefighting duties. You will respond to medical emergencies, provide life-saving interventions, and participate in fire suppression and rescue operations. The ideal candidate is committed to ensuring the community's safety and well-being while working in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.

Salary: $71,781 per year, depending on qualifications Schedule: Rotating24-hour (48/96)shift

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emergency medical calls, delivering ALS or BLS based on certification level.
  • Conduct patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide critical care (e.g., cardiac monitoring, airway management, IV therapy, trauma care).
  • Document patient care in pre-hospital medical reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Stabilize and transport patients safely to medical facilities, ensuring ongoing care.
  • Act as the lead paramedic on scene, coordinating with other responders to manage patient care and logistics.
  • Assist with fire suppression, vehicle extrication, hazardous materials response, and rescue operations.
  • Participate in fire prevention activities, inspections, and community outreach programs.
  • Maintain EMS and fire equipment, ensuring readiness for emergency response.
  • Collaborate effectively with other firefighters and paramedics in high-stress situations.
  • Engage in ongoing training to maintain required certifications and stay current with industry standards.

Qualifications: - High School Diploma or GED (required), Associate’s Degree or higher (preferred). - Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP). - North Dakota Paramedic Licensure (must obtain upon hire if out-of-state). - Required certifications: AHA BLS CPR, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, NAEMT PHTLS, NAEMT AMLS. - NIMS/ICS certifications: ICS 100, 200, 700, 800.
