This is an OPS position limited to 10 hours per week for non-certified individuals seeking a career in fire rescue. The position observes fire-fighting, fire prevention and patient care work in rendering pre-hospital life support functions, other emergency care, and rescue services. Duties include training and observation of the Fire/Rescue service under the direct supervision of a senior EMT/Firefighter.
Must be 18 years of age at the time of application.- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent- Must have a valid Florida driver’s license- Must be substance free, including alcohol and tobacco. - The applicant must be of good character and possess good moral habits. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of first aid, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and the use of life sustaining equipment and practices.- Knowledge of safety and comfort manners and methods in the handling and treatment of patients.- Knowledge of fire prevention, suppression, and extinguishing techniques.- Knowledge of Florida safety requirements and privileges when responding to non-emergency and emergency calls.- Ability to remain current in all Standards of Care as dictated by the County EMS Standard Operating Procedures Manual.- Ability to become familiar with the roadway/highway system within the County.- Ability to learn and operate relatively complex firefighting and rescue equipment.- Ability to work as a team.- Ability to adhere to physician instructions, protocol, and standing orders.- Must have legible handwriting. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. (No comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the above minimum qualifications.)
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
All Temporary, Seasonal, or OPS Employees are required to participate in an orientation session to provide safety training while working for Putnam County.
