The City of Clermont Fire Department is a fast-growing, ISO Class 1 and Internationally Accredited agency proudly serving one of Central Florida’s most vibrant and rapidly expanding communities.
We’re growing our department funded through the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant, adding 3 ** grant funded firefighter s ** and 2 city-funded positions, for a total of 5 new firefighters joining our ranks!
Clermont Fire currently provides non-transport ALS service and operates specialized teams including Technical Rescue, HazMat, Drone Operations, and Surface Water Rescue. The City of Clermont is also building a firefighter training facility, to further enhancing our commitment to professional excellence, innovation, and preparedness.

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, performs responsible work involving the prevention and suppression of fires and delivery of other emergency and non-emergency services. The employee is responsible for responding to emergency situations and assisting in the control and resolution of the situation. The employee works within the scope of established fire department rules, regulations, and procedures, however, is expected to exercise considerable judgment and initiative, when required.
This position is non-exempt. Fair Labor Standards Act overtime provisions will apply.
Per Florida Statute 295.065, certain servicemembers and veterans, and the spouses and family members of such servicemembers and veterans, receive preference and priority, and that certain servicemembers may be eligible to receive waivers for postsecondary educational requirements, in employment by the state and its political subdivisions and are encouraged to apply for the positions being filled.

Responds to various uncontrolled and life-threatening emergencies throughout the City and requests for aid outside of the City.
Other job functions – Participates in custodial, maintenance, and repair duties; answers phones, providing information and assisting the public; performs routine clerical duties such as light typing and filing; performs other duties as assigned or required; may be assigned functional duties outlined in Department Operating Guidelines.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED is required.
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations
In some cases, an equivalent combination of higher education and experience may be considered, provided that the education and experience is in a relevant and related field. ## Essential Physical Functions & Environmental Conditions Physical Demands

Works inside in an office environment. Works outside in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc., including extremes of each).
