Vance County Emergency Services provides essential fire suppression and advanced life support (paramedic level) emergency medical care to the citizens of Vance County and the City of Henderson. The department is a combination agency, utilizing both full-time and part-time employees, as well as volunteers.
The service area spans approximately 254 square miles and responds to around 6,000 EMS calls and 1,000 fire-related incidents annually. Operations are conducted twenty-four hours a day from two stations, with one EMS unit located at the Bearpond Fire Department to serve the southern part of the county.
