Department careers page ↗The Spencer Fire Department is a combination department staffed by full-time, part-time, and volunteer firefighters serving the Town of Spencer in Rowan County, North Carolina. It operates around the clock out of one station, Station 75, on South Salisbury Avenue.
Organized in the early 1900s, the department has grown from an all-volunteer force into a modern combination organization. It transitioned to combination staffing in 2007, made the fire chief a full-time role in 2021, and in 2024 added six full-time career members, the first time in its long history the town was guaranteed full staffing.
Beyond fire suppression, the department runs a First Responder medical program (established 1993), maintains roughly 200 hydrants across town, and carries a strong ISO Class 2 rating. It handled about 1,240 calls for service in 2023.
