Hiring status
The eligibility list for Mountain View Fire and Rescue is a continuous listing, maintained as scores are received from the PST. We typically review scores from the past 12 months, and oral board interviews are conducted on an as-needed basis. Historically, we have hired 1-4 firefighters every 6 months or so. When vacancies arise, positions are filled by the "rule of three," with the top three candidates forwarded to the appointing authority for background investigation and selection.
Those hired will attend the academy with the South King County Fire Training Consortium, where they will receive comprehensive training to prepare them for their roles in our department. Salary
Annual base wage for a Probationary Firefighter is currently about $82K, and about $115K for First Class Firefighters (including 6.2% social security add-to-pay).
