Responsibilities

Provide emergency medical care to sick and injured to the level of Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic following set medical protocols. This employee is responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency calls and determining the nature and extent of illness and injury.

Brady Fire/EMS provides fire and EMS services for the city of Brady  and McCulloch County.  Brady Fire/EMS staffs a full time 5 person shift and works with local and county volunteers.  Crews work a 48/96 shift with paid vacation and sick leave.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Establishing a priority for emergency care
  • Fire suppression
  • Rescue operations
  • Rendering appropriate emergency care up to and including EMT-Paramedic level following written protocols
  • Responsible for keeping Fire and EMS vehicles stocked and ready to respond
  • Performs routine daily Fire/EMS/Rescue vehicle checks and inventory with a partner(s)
  • Responsible for assisting in clerical work, including preparing, reviewing and processing reports and records
  • Working in an out-of-door environment subject to extreme temperatures and inclement weather
  • Properly and completely fills out run report documentation
  • EMS/Fire and Rescue
  • Responsible for keeping accurate records regarding medication, administration, and logs
  • Maintains required CE to qualify for re-certification
  • Participates in department training / CE classes
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must have activated telephone at employees residence
  • Knowledge of EMS protocols and Fire SOGs
  • Ability to perform accurate and timely run documentation
  • Be able to deal with people, including co-workers, tactfully and courteously
  • Understand and be proficient in map reading
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Texas Motor Vehicle Operators License Class B Exempt
  • Texas Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic Certificate
  • Minimum of TCFP - Fire Certification Basic Level
  • Pass a Medical Exam/Drug screen
  • Pass an extensive public safety background check.
