The City of Pleasant Hill is accepting applications for the position of Part-time Firefighter/Medic.  

The successful candidate will respond to emergency situations; safely operate emergency service apparatus and visually assess emergency scenes for hazards to safety.  This person will also perform a full range of duties in the prevention and suppression of all types of fires, provide emergency medical and rescue services, provide hazardous materials incident response and perform duties necessary to preserve life and property.

A new applicant will have to have a successful test score on the National Firefighter Inventory Exam to be considered. This should be submitted with their application along with any other required documentation.  If the candidate possesses a certificate of successful completion of a CPAT test or a CIFET PAE test that is no more than 12 months old, this can be submitted in place of taking the PAE exam.

The Physical Ability Test is currently scheduled to take place September 28th, 29th, and October 1st at the Urbandale Fire Department Station #42; located at 3927 121st Street in Urbandale Iowa 50323.  Candidates can practice the PAE on the 28th and 29th if they choose to do so. Successful completion of the PAE must take place no later than October 1st, 2026.
