Department careers page ↗The City of Sheboygan Fire Department is an all-career agency of 78 members operating out of five stations across the city. Seventy-two of those members work suppression and EMS on three 24-hour shifts (battalions A, B, and C); the remaining six are administrative staff based at Station 3 headquarters.
Sheboygan runs an integrated fire-EMS model: every engine, truck, and rescue is staffed with paramedics who can begin advanced care before the ambulance arrives. The city fields four engines, one truck, and four ambulances (Med Units), plus specialized units including a rescue UTV, a technical rescue trailer, and a dive rescue trailer.
The department is forward-leaning in emergency medicine, having launched a prehospital blood administration program in 2026, and is planning a new Public Safety Complex. Its stated vision includes moving toward a regional, shared-services model to stabilize costs and cut response times for Sheboygan and neighboring communities.
