Department careers page ↗Grant County Fire Protection District No. 5 protects the greater Moses Lake area of central Washington. Formally organized in 1949, it has grown into a combination department backed by more than 80 volunteers of all ages alongside 9 career staff.
The district covers a 454-square-mile primary response area and provides mutual aid across roughly 853 square miles of Grant County, including the cities of Moses Lake, Ephrata, Soap Lake, Warden, and Wilson Creek and neighboring fire districts. It answered about 1,400 calls for service in 2018.
Operations run out of 14 stations with a fleet of more than 70 fire apparatus, support, and command units. Recent years have brought new stations, ongoing apparatus modernization, and continuous training in current standards.
Services span fire suppression, emergency medical services, life safety, prevention and education, preparedness, and technical rescue.

The district recruits volunteer firefighters through an active program and invites interested people of all ages to get involved.
