Dinwiddie County Fire & EMS provides fire suppression, hazardous materials response, rescue, fire prevention, code enforcement, public education, and emergency medical care to the county. It operates a combination staffing model, blending career personnel with a corps of more than 200 volunteers.
The department runs six fire stations across the county, four of which also provide EMS at both basic and advanced life support levels, including patient transport. Beyond day-to-day response, the division oversees the county's emergency and disaster management program, maintaining the Emergency Operations Plan, Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Plan, and Disaster Mitigation Plan, and staffing the county Emergency Operations Center.
