About Park CIty Fire Service District

Park City Fire District (PCFD) is a special-service fire district covering the historic mining-turned-resort town of Park City, Utah and the surrounding communities of Summit County in the Wasatch Mountains. It runs seven fire stations positioned so crews can reach any 911 call within roughly five to seven minutes.

The district serves a rapidly expanding year-round population alongside millions of annual visitors drawn to the area's ski resorts and mountain recreation. That mix drives a broad emergency workload spanning medical calls, structure fires, hazardous materials incidents, and backcountry and mountain rescue.

Because of its wildland-urban interface setting, the department places particular emphasis on wildfire prevention and preparedness, running public education and fire-prevention programs in addition to emergency response.

How to get hired

Firefighter hiring at PCFD runs through a competitive testing process; applications are managed via the district's GovernmentJobs portal, and candidates can sign up for a Job Interest Card to be notified when the next recruitment opens (the site notes testing is scheduled for 2027). Minimum entry requires being at least 21, a high school diploma or GED, national-registry and Utah Basic EMT certification, a valid driver's license, and English fluency.

Selected applicants move through a written aptitude test, a pass/fail physical task performance test, oral board interviews, a ride-along evaluation with crews, and a final chief's interview. The district hires at both Firefighter/EMT and Firefighter/Paramedic levels.
