North Hays County Fire/Rescue Department - Esd #6

North Hays County Fire/Rescue Department, operating as Emergency Services District #6, covers roughly 281 square miles of northern Hays County in the Texas Hill Country, headquartered at 400 Sportsplex Drive in Dripping Springs. It is a combination department, blending full-time career crews with volunteer members.

The department fields more than 100 trained fire/rescue personnel and a fleet of over 30 apparatus, with its busiest stations staffed by full-time crews and others supported by volunteers. It responds to a high volume of calls each year across a large, largely rural and rapidly growing service area.

As an ESD, the department is governed with public accountability, publishing budgets, audits, agendas, and open-records information. Its work spans fire suppression, rescue, wildland and brush operations, technical (aerial) rescue, and hazardous-materials response.
