About Frisco Fire Department

Frisco Fire Department protects the city of Frisco, a rapidly expanding community north of Dallas, delivering fire suppression, emergency medical, and rescue services. Public safety anchors the city's priorities, drawing nearly half of the general fund operating budget.

The department runs 10 fire stations plus a Public Safety Training Center, staffed by 233 career firefighters assigned to fire operations across three rotating 24-hour shifts, with a minimum of 62 firefighters on duty daily.

Frisco holds an ISO Class 1 Public Protection Classification, the highest possible rating achieved by only about 1% of departments nationally. Beyond emergency response, the department runs Citizens Fire Academies and the Frisco Fire Safety Town in partnership with Texas Health Hospital Frisco.

How to get hired

Frisco hires firefighters who are already certified as FF/Paramedic or FF/EMT through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection and the Texas Department of State Health Services. Candidates apply online through the city's GovernmentJobs portal and can sign up for job notifications to be alerted when a hiring window opens.

The selection process is a thorough nine steps, beginning with an online entry exam and Physical Ability Test and progressing through background investigation, oral board and Fire Chief interviews, polygraph, psychological evaluation, and medical exam. The department also offers a lateral hiring program with details published separately.

PayA pay plan and certification pay documents are provided on the recruiting page.
