About Fort Hood Army Fire & Emergency Services

The Fire Division operates as one of three components of Fort Hood's Directorate of Emergency Services, alongside the Provost Marshal Office (law enforcement) and the Operations & Security Division (force protection and anti-terrorism). Together, DES "plans, directs and provides law and order, fire and emergency services, and protection operations in support of Fort Hood and III Armored Corps."

The Fire Division is described as consisting of highly skilled, professional emergency response teams capable of handling emergency medical calls, hazardous material incidents, fire rescue, fire suppression, and consequence management across the installation. As a military installation fire service, it protects Army housing, barracks, industrial and training areas, and supports III Armored Corps operations.

DES also runs a House Watch Program, through which Soldiers and families can request security checks of their quarters during extended absences, including exterior inspections and perimeter assessments — an example of the broader community-protection role the directorate plays alongside its emergency response mission.
