About Cypress Creek Fire Department

Cypress Creek Fire Department traces back to a volunteer department established in 1976. Harris County voters formally created Harris County Rural Fire Prevention District No. 13 in January 1984, entering a service agreement with the Cypress Creek Volunteer Fire Department later that year; the district was redesignated Harris County Emergency Services District No. 13 in 2003 as growth in the FM 1960 corridor drove tax-rate increases in 2001 and 2011 to fund expansion.

The department transitioned toward a career model in 2016-2017, hiring its first 15 full-time firefighters and adding 6 more the following year. A 2019 sales tax election funded 9 additional career firefighters and completed a merger of operations, and Station 25 was built and opened in 2022, bringing the department to five stations. CCFD now operates with approximately 150 personnel, including 46 full-time career staff, 64 hourly personnel, and 30 volunteers.

The department follows a P.R.I.D.E. framework emphasizing professionalism, respect, integrity, discipline, and an "everyone goes home" safety ethic. Its investments in staffing, training, and equipment earned an ISO rating upgrade to Class 2/2Y effective August 1, 2022, placing it in the top 6.1% of rated departments nationally. CCFD also runs free community programs, including child passenger safety seat inspections at Station 22 and home safety surveys with free smoke detector installation.
