About Allen Fire Department

Allen Fire Department traces its roots to February 18, 1953, when twenty-six volunteers organized at the Allen schoolhouse under the city's first fire chief, John D. "Jack" Holt. What began as a volunteer force answering fewer than 1,000 calls a year has grown alongside the city itself, moving to a fully professional, all-paramedic model in the 1980s and 1990s as Allen's population expanded north of Dallas.

Today the department operates six fire stations, including its LEED Platinum-certified Station 5 and the newest addition, Station 6, completed in 2024 to cover northwest Allen. Roughly 120 career firefighters now respond to nearly 10,000 calls a year, about three-quarters of them medical, reflecting the department's fully integrated fire-and-EMS delivery model.

Led by Fire Chief Jonathan Boyd along with three assistant chiefs and three division chiefs, Allen Fire Department emphasizes ongoing training, modern apparatus, and firefighter wellness alongside its emergency response, fire prevention, and community education programs.
