Department careers page ↗Clarksville Fire Rescue provides fire suppression, medical assistance response, technical and water rescue, fire investigations, life-safety inspections, and public fire-education programs to the city of Clarksville, Tennessee. The department is led by Fire Chief Freddie D. Montgomery, Jr., supported by deputy chiefs over operations and logistics.
Operations personnel work a 24-hour-on, 48-hour-off shift schedule across three shifts of 83 personnel each, with each shift organized under a battalion chief, three district chiefs, three captains, and ten lieutenants. Beyond emergency response, the department runs an active hydrant-testing program, checking more than 5,000 hydrants twice a year, and conducts pre-fire planning surveys at commercial buildings to document hazards and emergency contacts ahead of time.
