New Ellenton Fire Department

New Ellenton Fire Department serves the city of New Ellenton, a community whose modern history begins with displacement: original Ellenton was founded in 1880 in Barnwell County, but its roughly 6,000 residents were relocated 14 miles north in 1951-52 when the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission built the Savannah River Site, and the new city of New Ellenton was incorporated on April 26, 1952 in Aiken County.

The department, referenced on official correspondence as "District 25," runs out of a station at 201 Oak Ridge Ave. Its apparatus roster includes Engine 3, Engine 4, and Engine 5 alongside a quick-response vehicle (QRV-25), a water tanker, an air trailer, and three dedicated forestry units (Forestry 1, 2, and 3), a mix that points to significant wildland and brush-fire response responsibility alongside structural coverage.

Department leadership is headed by Chief Mike Kellems, supported by Deputy Chief Carl Culpepper and Battalion Chief Corey Jones.
