Department careers page ↗Fairview Township Fire Department protects a roughly 36-square-mile response area covering Fairview Township (population about 17,541) and neighboring Lewisberry Borough (population about 300), just outside New Cumberland. The response area is a mix of residential developments, hotels, agricultural land, and commercial and industrial business, and includes stretches of I-83 and the PA Turnpike.
The department operates out of three stations: Station 1 in the northeast of the township (Engine 1, Rescue, Brush, and Utility), Station 2 in the southeast (Engine 2 and Tanker), and Station 3 in Lewisberry Borough (Engine 3 and a Traffic Unit). Call volume has grown in recent years, from 645 calls in 2022 to 971 in 2025.
The department is entirely staffed by volunteers, including firefighters, apparatus drivers, administrative members, and fire police, and provides regular mutual aid to surrounding municipalities such as Lower Allen Township and New Cumberland Borough in Cumberland County, Harrisburg City and Swatara Township in Dauphin County, and Newberry Township and Warrington Township in York County.
