Marion County Fire District #1

Marion County Fire District No. 1 is an independent special service district serving the unincorporated communities bordering Salem and Keizer, Oregon. It blends career and volunteer personnel across eight stations to answer more than 10,000 calls a year.

The district traces back to 1939, when the single-station Four Corners Fire Department was formed. A 1968 merger with the Brooks Rural Fire District created the modern Marion County Fire District No. 1, now governed by a five-member elected Board of Directors.

Today the district protects around 60,000 residents over roughly 88 square miles, delivering fire suppression, all-hazards rescue, wildfire response, and 24/7/365 advanced life support with in-house transport ambulances.

Operations run from eight stations - Four Corners, Middle Grove, Pratum, Macleay, Brooks, Clearlake, Labish, and Chemeketa - backed by a fleet of engines, tenders, brush units, and staff vehicles.

The district actively accepts applications to fill vacant positions and to build an eligibility list for future hiring needs, recruiting for both career and volunteer roles. It looks for service-minded people who bring integrity, professionalism, and a willingness to go above and beyond.
