The Hertford Fire Department is a volunteer fire department serving the Town of Hertford, North Carolina, the county seat of Perquimans County in the state's northeastern Albemarle region. Hertford itself is a small river town on the Perquimans River, incorporated in 1758 and among the oldest towns in North Carolina. Roughly 30 volunteer firefighters support the department, responding from the fire station at 328 W. Grubb Street in the heart of town.
The department handles fire calls and motor vehicle accidents requiring extrication, and it runs fire prevention programs in the community. Its first-due area covers the town and the areas immediately around it, and crews also respond as mutual aid alongside Perquimans County's other volunteer departments — Belvidere-Chappell Hill, Bethel, Durants Neck, Inter-County, and Winfall.
The department operates under Fire Chief Drew Woodard, with non-emergency calls routed through county dispatch.
