About City Of Roxboro Fire Department

The City of Roxboro Fire Department protects Roxboro and the surrounding Person County area with a combination staffing model: 23 career firefighters working a three-shift, 24-hours-on/48-hours-off rotation, backed by more than 20 part-time personnel. Each shift begins and ends at 8:00 a.m., and every member is cross-trained in emergency medical care, firefighting, and technical rescue so the department can flex to whatever the call requires.

Beyond structure fires, Roxboro's crews handle first-responder medical calls, hazardous-materials incidents, and tactical rescue, totaling more than 1,400 responses a year across single-family homes, commercial buildings, industrial occupancies, and medical facilities. The department sets itself measurable performance targets for structure fires, including a 60-second turnout, five personnel on scene within 5 minutes 90% of the time, and a minimum of 15 personnel responding within 8 minutes 90% of the time, backed by two-in/two-out RIT staffing and rapid attack-line deployment.

Outside of emergency response, the department runs an active community-education and fire-prevention program aimed at reducing injuries and fire incidents through public outreach, partnering with local EMS, police, sheriff's, and health department resources to keep Roxboro and Person County safer.

MissionTo provide the customers of Roxboro and Person County a safer community through education efforts, coalitions and awareness campaigns by changing unsafe behaviors impacting high risk audiences based on community needs.
