About Niagara Falls Fire Department

The Niagara Falls Fire Department covers roughly 17 square miles that include not only the city's residential and industrial neighborhoods but also one of the world's most-visited natural landmarks, drawing an estimated 20 to 25 million visitors a year on top of the city's resident population. Crews operate out of five fire stations and respond to more than 7,000 calls annually, ranging from structure fires and medical emergencies to auto extrications, industrial incidents, and swift-water rescues tied to the Niagara River.

NFFD is organized under a Fire Chief appointed by the Mayor and supported by Fire Prevention, Training, and Apparatus divisions, with a minimum of 26 firefighters and officers staffing seven apparatus around the clock. Firefighters are represented by IAFF Local 714, with fire officers represented separately by Local 3359. Beyond emergency response, the department runs a long-running Firefighters Christmas Toy Fund telethon supporting local families during the holidays.

MissionMembers are committed to ensuring the safety of its citizens and visitors of Niagara Falls and enhancing our community's quality of life.
