About Eddy County Fire & Rescue

Eddy County Fire & Rescue serves Eddy County, New Mexico, and neighboring areas from a headquarters in Carlsbad. It was created on April 20, 2021, when the county merged 11 independent volunteer fire districts and county administration into one organization, a move driven by the districts' recruitment struggles and a goal of maintaining or improving ISO ratings.

The department is a combination organization, staffing operations with career firefighters, civilian personnel, and volunteers. Coverage is split into a North County region (Artesia and Loco Hill area) and a South County region (Carlsbad, Loving, White City, and Malaga).

Of its 17 firehouses, four are career-staffed (Stations 2, 4, 5, and 6) while the remaining stations rely on volunteer personnel. The organization is divided into an Office of the Fire Chief, an Office of the Fire Marshal and Fire Prevention, an Operations Division, and a Training Division.

MissionWe are prepared for duty, serving with honor, responding with compassion, and committed to professional excellence.
