Department careers page ↗Formed in 1986, Mid-County Fire Protection District covers 227 square miles of central Camden County, Missouri, in the Lake of the Ozarks area. Since October 1, 2016, the district has held a contract with the City of Camdenton to provide all fire, rescue, and EMS services for the city, in addition to its district-wide coverage.
The district responds to roughly 2,000 emergency incidents a year, providing structural and wildland fire suppression, vehicle and technical rescue, marine firefighting, dive/water rescue, emergency medical services, and fire code enforcement. It operates seven fire stations, two of which include fireboat docks, supporting a fleet that includes engines, tankers, rescue engines, ladder trucks, brush/EMS units, a heavy rescue truck, and two fireboats.
MCFPD is staffed by a combination of 15 paid firefighters and 30 volunteer firefighters, led by Fire Chief Scott Frandsen along with a deputy chief, fire marshal, and assistant fire marshal. The district is governed by an elected Board of Directors serving six-year terms.
MCFPD hires career firefighters through the Tri-State Fire Recruitment Alliance, a consortium of 16 area departments that administers shared written and physical ability testing at least four times a year; successful candidates remain on an eligibility list for one year.
