The Wayne Fire Department protects the City of Wayne, Michigan, west of Detroit, from its station at 3300 S Wayne Road. It runs an all-hazards operation combining fire suppression, EMS transport, hazardous materials response, and urban search and rescue.
Staff work three rotating 24-hour shifts (A, B, and C), each led by a Captain and Lieutenant. Every member is cross-trained in firefighting and paramedic-level care, reflecting a call load that is roughly 82% medical.
The department is an active partner in the Western Wayne County Fire Department Mutual Aid Association, sharing resources with 20 neighboring communities, and invests hundreds of training hours each year in hazmat, fire attack, EMS protocols, firefighter survival, and OSHA respirator certification.
