Department careers page ↗The Middleton Fire Department protects the Town of Middleton, Massachusetts, a growing Essex County community of more than 10,000 residents spread over 13 square miles. The department operates from a single, centrally located fire station at the Public Safety Building, 99 South Main Street, under Fire Chief Douglas K. LeColst.
A combination department, Middleton Fire employs 37 men and women in a mix of full-time and part-time roles. Members handle fire suppression, advanced and basic emergency medical services, hazardous materials mitigation, disaster response, public education, and community service, and the department dispatches its own 911 calls for fire, police, and EMS. In 2023 the department responded to just over 2,200 incidents.
A dedicated Fire Prevention Division handles plan review, fire protection system inspections, and permitting for the town. The department has also adopted Community Connect, a First Due platform that lets Middleton residents and businesses share critical property and occupant information with responders ahead of an emergency.
