Lynn Fire Department

The Lynn Fire Department serves the city of Lynn, Massachusetts, operating out of a main office at 725 Western Avenue. Beyond emergency fire response, the department runs distinct specialty divisions: a Fire Prevention Division that issues permits and certificates, handles inspection requests (including mandatory smoke/carbon monoxide alarm compliance inspections for property sales), and provides fire safety education; and a Fire Investigation Unit that determines the origin and cause of fires and explosions in the city under Massachusetts law, issues fire reports, and runs an Arson Watch Reward Program offering up to $5,000 for information leading to arson arrests and convictions.

The department also houses an Emergency Management division that plans for, mitigates, responds to, and recovers from natural and man-made disasters in coordination with the Lynn Police Department, Public Health, Public Works, state agencies (MEMA), federal agencies (FEMA), and nonprofits such as the American Red Cross.
