About Anderson County Fire Protection District

Anderson County Fire Protection District has protected the Lawrenceburg area of Kentucky's Bluegrass region since the county's founding in 1827, when the district took its name from Richard Clough Anderson, a Kentucky legislator and U.S. Congressman. Today the district is an all-volunteer force operating out of five active stations, with a sixth in development along Gilberts Creek Road to keep pace with a growing county population.

The department answered 325 calls in 2024 and describes its volunteers as part of the "Brotherhood of Fire," with an auxiliary program that lets community members support operations in non-firefighting roles. Leadership runs through a chief, deputy chief, two assistant chiefs, and three battalion chiefs overseeing the district's stations and membership.
