An authorized staff of 96 employees responds to more than 7,000 emergency calls a year, treating or transporting over 3,500 patients and delivering fire and safety education to more than 10,000 residents annually — roughly one in five people who live in Lenexa.
The department is organized into four divisions — Support Services, Operations, Professional Development, and Prevention — each led by a chief officer, and is an Accredited Agency through the Commission on Fire Accreditation International, carrying an ISO Public Protection Classification rating of 1. Beyond emergency response, the department runs a Citizens' Fire Academy, CPR/AED/first aid training, fire extinguisher training for local businesses, station tours and presentations, and a Youth Fire Intervention Program for children who have shown concerning behavior around fire.
MissionOur mission is clear: to proudly serve our community with professional services through selfless dedication and compassion.
