About Columbia Fire Protection District

The Columbia Fire Protection District's mission is to protect the lives and property of the residents of Columbia, Illinois. Its dedicated 42-member department accomplishes this through continued training in fire suppression, hazardous-materials response, and rescue operations, while providing community education in fire safety.

The district is led by a Fire Chief who serves as Incident Commander, supported by a 1st Assistant Chief (training officer) and a 2nd Assistant Chief (equipment maintenance). It hires part-time paramedics.
