About Cochran Fire Department

Cochran Fire & Emergency Services (CF&ES) is the municipal fire department for the City of Cochran, Georgia, operating out of its Station 1 headquarters on 1st Street. The department's core charge is fire suppression and emergency response for the city's residents, businesses, and industry, including hazardous-materials identification, and it maintains a fire marshal's office that handles annual business inspections, new-business plan review, and code enforcement under Georgia's state minimum fire safety standards.

CF&ES invests heavily in training relative to its size: full-time firefighters complete a minimum of 196 hours of training per year plus 24 hours of continuing education through the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council, while volunteer members train a minimum of 96 hours annually. Members are evaluated across communications, EMS care, fireground operations, general firefighting skills, and prevention/preparedness, and the department is building out its own training grounds with a three-story tower, a two-story burn building, a roof prop, a vehicle-fire prop, and a pressurized-container prop.

Beyond suppression, the department investigates the origin and cause of every fire in coordination with the Georgia State Fire Marshal's Office and the Cochran Police Department, and its fire prevention program runs community outreach such as home-escape-plan guidance and carbon monoxide safety education for Cochran's roughly 5,150 residents.

MissionCochran Fire and Emergency Services Department is charged with the responsibility of providing fire suppression and emergency services including but not limited to hazardous materials identification to the citizens, business and industry of the City of Cochran. CF&ES will strive to prepare and deliver the best possible training programs for its members to prepare them to efficiently deliver the department's primary services.
