About Palm Bay Fire Rescue

Palm Bay Fire Rescue is the career fire and EMS provider for the City of Palm Bay, Florida, one of the fastest-growing cities in Brevard County. The department runs fire suppression, emergency medical service, and rescue response out of stations spread across the city, with new stations added as the community expands outward.

Department administration, including the Fire Chief's Office, Fire Emergency Services, and Fire Prevention divisions, is based at Fire Rescue Headquarters on Carlyle Avenue SE. The department has continued to add capacity in recent years, including a new Station 7 and a temporary station serving the Sunrise Elementary School area, reflecting the city's ongoing residential growth.

Palm Bay Fire Rescue firefighters and paramedics are represented by IAFF Local 2446 (Palm Bay Professional Firefighters), and the department maintains an active presence in the community through public events, station tours, and safety education.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • U.S. Citizen or legal resident alien
  • Valid State of Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance from the Florida State Fire Marshal
  • State of Florida certified EMT or Paramedic with current State of Florida Department of Health license
  • Current ACLS certification (paramedics) or BLS certification (EMTs)
  • Tobacco-free for one year immediately preceding application, per Florida Statute, and must remain tobacco-free during employment
  • Must pass a comprehensive background investigation and medical examination
