About Kissimmee Fire Department

The Kissimmee Fire Department serves the City of Kissimmee in Osceola County, Central Florida, providing fire suppression, emergency medical services, technical rescue, and other emergency response. It operates from four fire stations (Stations 11, 12, 13, and 14) with a career staff of roughly 87 personnel.

The department runs a full advanced-life-support EMS system, staffing four full-time ALS transport units. It provides EMS for city residents and, on request, assists neighboring Osceola County and the City of St. Cloud.

Kissimmee holds two of the fire service's top marks of quality: accreditation from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) and an ISO Class 1 Public Protection Classification. It is also the first department in Central Florida to adopt a four-shift, 24/72 schedule.

How to get hired

Kissimmee hires for the combined Firefighter/Paramedic role, and candidates are expected to arrive already certified in Florida. Testing is administered through the National Testing Network. Prospective firefighters should review the department's "Become a Firefighter/Paramedic" page on the City of Kissimmee website for the current requirements and application steps.
