About Columbia County Fire Rescue Department

Columbia County Fire Rescue Department serves Columbia County, Florida, operating out of 12 numbered fire stations (Stations 40 through 51) spread across the county to keep response times low for a largely rural service area. The department responds to structure and vehicle fires, hazardous materials incidents, and provides Basic Life Support countywide along with Advanced Life Support coverage in the north and south county areas, and also extends EMS mutual aid assistance to the community of Century.

Beyond emergency response, the department runs Community Risk Reduction programs, including public fire-safety education, truck demonstrations for schools and groups, smoke detector installations, fire extinguisher training, building fire-code inspections, and pre-fire planning for local occupancies. The department is administered from its headquarters at 509 SW Bascom Norris Dr. in Lake City, alongside Station 40.

How to get hired

Columbia County Fire Rescue hires full-time and PRN (as-needed) personnel and periodically brings on Reservists, for whom prior experience is preferred but not required.
