About Westminster Fire Department

Westminster Fire Department has protected the city of Westminster, Colorado since 1934, growing from a single volunteer station into a fully professional, all-career agency of 153 personnel operating out of six fire stations, with two more under construction to keep pace with a growing city of roughly 114,000 residents. Crews respond to about 17,000 calls a year, the large majority medical in nature, and typically arrive on scene in under six minutes.

WFD holds the dual distinction of Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) accreditation and an ISO Class 1 Public Protection Classification, a combination reached by only a small fraction of North American fire departments. The department's apparatus fleet spans engines, trucks, ambulances, wildland brush trucks, and a dive/water rescue unit, reflecting a broad response profile that covers structure fires, wildland fire, technical rescue, hazmat, and advanced life support EMS transport.

Following voter approval of a 2025 ballot measure, WFD is authorized to expand staffing to 190 personnel, supporting continued growth under its 2024-2028 Strategic Plan.

MissionTo enhance community safety through preparedness, prevention, education, and response.
