Department careers page ↗Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) provides fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue, and hazardous-materials response across the city. Its staffed resources include 22 engine companies, 6 truck companies, a HazMat team, a heavy rescue team, three medical squads, and eleven brush trucks, reflecting a broad all-hazards mission.
Situated along Colorado's Front Range, the department places strong emphasis on wildfire preparedness, running mitigation, neighborhood chipping, and community education programs under its "Ready, Set, Go" initiative. Every firefighter holds at least EMT certification and many are paramedics.
CSFD also carries a regulatory role as a Federally Designated Emergency Response Agency (DERA) for hazardous materials, and conducts plan reviews and inspections for commercial and hillside construction. Its stated response goal is to reach incidents within eight minutes, 90 percent of the time.
