About Mariposa County Fire Department

Mariposa County Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency response throughout Mariposa County in California's Sierra Nevada foothills, a rural region best known as a gateway to Yosemite National Park. The department responds to structure and wildland fires, medical emergencies, and public-safety incidents, and operates as a cooperative partner with CAL FIRE.

The department is organized around a network of community fire companies spread across the county, including stations in Midpines, Mariposa, Catheys Valley, Don Pedro, Coulterville, Bridgeport, Lushmeadows, Greeley Hill, Ponderosa Basin, Fish Camp, Bootjack, and the county airport.

Staffing centers on a volunteer firefighter program, with roles ranging from support members and medical responders to fully qualified firefighters. The department provides all training and specialized equipment at no cost to volunteers.
