El Dorado County Fire Protection District is an independent special district serving more than 85,000 residents across 346 square miles along the U.S. Highway 50 corridor on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada. Its service area spans elevations from roughly 500 to over 6,000 feet and includes Placerville (the county seat), Diamond Springs, Pollock Pines, Camino, Shingle Springs, Cool, and many surrounding foothill and mountain communities.
