Beverly Hills Fire Department

Beverly Hills Fire Department (BHFD) protects roughly 34,000 residents and up to 200,000 daily visitors and commuters across 5.7 square miles at the heart of Los Angeles County. Operating out of three stations, the department's 123 firefighters and civilian staff respond to more than 8,600 incidents a year, ranging from structure fires and medical emergencies to hazardous materials incidents. BHFD is one of a small number of departments nationwide to hold a Class 1 rating from the Insurance Services Office, and it carries international accreditation from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI), reflecting its emphasis on professional standards across fire suppression, emergency medical services, and community risk reduction. The department also runs an active wildland fire program, addressing the wildland-urban interface risk in the hillside neighborhoods above the city through brush clearance, home hardening, and pre-attack planning.
