Department careers page ↗Northwest Fire District was established in the early 1980s (1984) by community members seeking dedicated fire protection for the area north and west of Tucson, Arizona. Headquartered in Marana, the district now operates 11 fire stations spread across 151 square miles, delivering fire suppression, paramedic-staffed emergency medical services, and fire prevention/life-safety programs to the communities it serves.
The district holds a Class 1/1Y Public Protection Classification from ISO, placing it among a small group of departments nationwide to reach that top rating, and it is internationally accredited through the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI), with reaccreditation on a five-year cycle. Fire Chief Norman K. "Brad" Bradley III, who rose through the ranks after joining the district as a firefighter recruit in 1999, has led the organization since 2018 under a mission to save lives, protect property, and care for the community.
