About Orange Beach Fire & Rescue

Orange Beach Fire Rescue protects the City of Orange Beach, a coastal Baldwin County community, through fire suppression, EMS transport, and a Fire Marshal's Office that handles code enforcement, plan review, fire inspections, and fire cause determination under the 2021 International Fire Code.

The department's Beach Safety Division, known as Molly's Patrol, began in 2008 as a two-lifeguard Surf Rescue program under Parks and Recreation before moving under the Fire Department on January 1, 2012. The program's name honors Molly Bryant, a 15-year-old who drowned in a rip current in 2003, and was made possible through a donation from her parents, Tommy and Rebecca Bryant. Today it operates as a Certified Lifeguard Agency under the United States Lifesaving Association (USLA), staffing seven static beach towers, six UTVs, three beach trucks, and two jet skis with 33 lifeguards (6 full-time, 3 part-time, 24 seasonal) covering almost 8 miles of coastline from Flora-Bama to Gulf State Park Pavilion, seasonally from March through October.

The department's Training Division operates as an Alabama Fire College Regional Training Center, offering advanced certifications such as Fire Officer, Fire Instructor, Fire Inspector, and Fire Investigator to firefighters from departments nationwide and internationally, and runs an annual firefighter internship program (applications open each May and June, program runs mid-September to mid-December).

MissionProvide the best protection and service possible with pride, honor, and integrity while protecting paradise.
